I love this series with smart and intuitive dog Ruff McPaw. Angela may be the official private investigator but in Ruff’s opinion, she could not do the job without him. When looking for the family Christmas tree, Angela comes across a body surrounded by several barn kittens. When asked by the sheriff to help investigate the death, she discovers more about the victim and possible suspects than she ever expected. Along with her boyfriend David and Ruff Angela is soon knee deep in the investigation. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.
Cute kittens and christmastime should make us feel cozy, but mix it with murder, missing heirlooms and a hidden treasure and it takes Angela and Ruff to make sure all is calm and bright for the most wonderful time of the year. I just love how Max combines clever animals with sympathetic female amateur sleuths and I would have bought the book just for the wonderful cover.
I love this series with Angela and Ruff, and this is another good one! The Hummings Hollow Christmas Festival is starting and when Nelson Hemlock, from the Pines and Needles tree farm, doesn’t show up at his scheduled booth with his Christmas trees, Angela heads out to the farm to check on him. What she finds is Nelson dead in his barn, obviously murdered. Another case to investigate. What she finds is a disgruntled, recently fired ex-employee and a feud with the other tree farm in town. Then, there are small thefts at the festival and rumors of a treasure left by Nelson. What’s going on?
This is a great holiday story. Angela and Ruff are on another case - but this one is super twisty! It left me guessing until the very end. Read it if you're in the mood for a sweet winter read; it's a great way to spend a few hours.
